About Vanguard

VAN’-GU’ARD [noun] The troops who march in front of an army; the first line.

In II Timothy 2:3-4, the Apostle Paul instructs Timothy saying, “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. Though Paul was speaking to Timothy in particular, the Holy Spirit inspired and preserved those words, and they have rung true for Bible-believers in every generation since they were first penned.

Every sincere person who has faith in the word of God is commissioned to be a soldier for the Lord. And make no mistake: there is a battle to fight. Ours is not a battle of bullets and bombs, but rather we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12 ). The battle is not for lands or wealth, but for the souls of men; we seek to bring to them to saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The battle is fierce, and Christianity, for the most part, has splintered into a variety of humanistic, philosophical sects that have all-but ceased to preach and teach sound doctrine from the final authority of God’s word. It is easy for the old-path Bible believer to feel isolated and without resource, which is a precarious place for a solider to be.

That is why Vanguard exists. It is not a church, nor is it meant to replace active involvement in a local Bible-believing church. Rather, it is a supplement. A extra supply drop in the midst of the battlefield. It is a place to find encouragement to press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:14). It is a place to exhort you: Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity (I Corinthians 16:13-14).

Vanguard is here to help hold the line. It is here to help you get out in the front of the battle and stay there. If that’s what you’re looking for, then you’ve come to the right place.
