Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What more could be said about these beautiful verses than has been already said? More importantly, what more could be said that what the verses already plainly say? Hudson Taylor, the missionary whose burden for China has influenced so many others, captured its essence when he said “You cannot be your own Savior, either in whole or in part” (Taylor 128). Christ is the deliverer – not doctrine, or church attendance, or daily prayer and Bible reading, or our efforts to live sanctified. Only Christ can save. Only He is the deliverer. Amen!
